The best brand is the one that fits your baby well and doesn't leak -- conventional wisdom is that Pampers are better for girls and Huggies for boys. Different brands suit different baby shapes better, so try a couple brands before committing. Two packages of Newborn diapers should do the trick in addition to the hospital freebies, as your baby will outgrow the Newborn size surprisingly quickly. Once your baby moves out of newborn diapers, start buying size 1-2 in bulk.

Choose a diaper pail that does not require a tutorial. (If you play your cards right, many eager helpers will be assisting with diaper changes.) The systems that require special refills keep the pail cleaner but add to the degree of difficulty, the cost and your shopping list. Whatever type of disposal system you choose, fold the diaper inward in a neat package before disposing and keep plastic grocery bags on hand for tying off big messes.

The wipes warmer sends a low current through the wipes to warm them. For a cold weather baby, a warm wipe is a nice touch. For a warm weather baby, you could wait-and-see whether your baby has sensitivity to a room-temperature wipe.
