Diaper Pail
Choose a diaper pail that does not require a tutorial. (If you play your cards right, many eager helpers will be assisting with diaper changes.) The systems that require special refills keep the pail cleaner but add to the degree of difficulty, the cost and your shopping list. Whatever type of disposal system you choose, fold the diaper inward in a neat package before disposing and keep plastic grocery bags on hand for tying off big messes.

The Diaper Champ contains odor well with a simple flip-top system, which can be figured out in a few seconds. It is also the most economical option, with the huge benefit of utilizing tall kitchen garbage bags. However, you have to open the top to remove the bag (yikes!) and the diaper touches the pail on the way in -- use a plastic grocery bag to contain messy diapers.

"Diaper Genie" has become synonymous with diaper pail and for good reason. The special-fitting plastic liner means the diaper never has to touch the pail and the liner can be tied off as the Genie is being emptied. However, run out of custom refills and the system is doomed. Also, should they have to empty, a helper is likely to be stymied by the cutting mechanism and refill installation.

The Diaper Dekor Plus works like a hands-free garbage can and is the most attractive of the options. The refills are expensive but last through numerous emptyings and are biodegradable. However, the odor seeps out each time you insert a diaper and a toddler will enjoy sticking hands in the top flaps. The Dekor Plus has larger capacity than the original.
