High Chair
A high chair is a great registry item, but won't need to be unpacked until solid food is introduced, usually around five months or so. First and foremost, a high chair should be easy to clean, with a removable plastic tray and seat that can be wiped down or rinsed off. Learning to eat is a messy business!

$230
The Prima Pappa is the sturdiest of high chairs, with numerous adjustment options to grow with your baby. Removable dishwasher-safe plastic tray cover and padded, heavy duty vinyl or leatherette seat make for easy clean-up. We like the "Best" model with the leatherette pad for its more subtle styling. Great feeding chair for infants and toddlers, but takes up significant floor space, even when folded.

$130
For significantly less than the Prima Pappa, the Chicco Polly offers similar features -- padded vinyl seat, various adjustment options and removable dishwasher-safe plastic tray cover -- and some nice style options. The trade-off is that it looks and feels a little less sturdy.

$250
For the truly style conscious and those who simply do not have the floor space for a traditional high chair, the Svan Chair is a nice alternative. Its innovative wood design will grow with your child, and the tray can be removed for use at the dinner table. The tray comes with a dishwasher-safe plastic cover, but the wood frame still requires careful, regular maintenance. The upright seat (without a reclining option) may be challenging for small infants who bob-and-weave during meal time, even with the optional pad, which adds $40 to the price of the chair.
