A "starter set" is a sensible way to get started with one brand of bottle. Round out the starter set with a couple smaller packs of bottles to be sure you have a good supply on hand. Six to eight bottles is a good supply to start with if you exclusively bottle feed and clean once or twice a day.

Have six to eight on hand if you are bottle-feeding exclusively and wash once or twice a day. A wide-neck bottle (short and wide) is more comfortable to hold and further reduces air bubbles.

Four to six of the larger bottle should be sufficient, as your baby will be eating less often as it consumes more during each feeding. A wide-neck bottle (short and wide) is more comfortable to hold and further reduces air bubbles.

(The microwave may be tempting but breaks down nutrients in breast milk.) If you crave the certainty of a timer or temperature control for warming, check out these bottle warmers.

At some point, the dishwasher becomes an obvious solution to dishpan hands. If you don't want to cross-contaminate with grown-up dishes, run the bottles separately on the economy cycle.
