Lightweight Stroller

For travel and quick errands, a lightweight stroller is great to have on hand. Your lightweight, or 'second' stroller, should be in the 10-pound range as opposed to your primary stroller, which may weigh closer to 14-18 pounds (umbrella) or even 20 or 25 pounds (convertible). It should fold easily and have minimal bells and whistles that add to the weight and can be damaged in travel (think airline baggage handling). To save a few dollars, look for 'last year's' colors and free shipping.

Maclaren Triumph
Maclaren Triumph

$175

If you plan to use a lightweight stroller frequently, the Triumph provides a little extra comfort for your little one compared to the Maclaren Volo or UPPAbaby G-LiTE, with a fully padded, reclining seat and slightly larger wheels. The few extra pounds (11 vs. 8.5) are worth it.

Maclaren Volo
Maclaren Volo

$115

For occasional errands or travel, the Maclaren Volo is a solid choice. Incredibly lightweight (8.6 lbs), easy to fold, and comes in an assortment of hip, vibrant colors and stripes. However, the Volo is not the height of comfort for the rider, so get a padded insert for frequent use or upgrade to the Triumph for a padded reclining seat.

UPPAbaby G-LiTE
UPPAbaby G-LiTE

$100

The G-LiTE is even a bit lighter than the Maclaren Volo (8.3 v. 8.6 lbs). Other unique features: folds from the handle instead of the base, washable seat liner and stand for upright storage. While it is sufficiently durable for daily use, the G-LiTE not the cushiest ride around, so for frequent use, get a padded insert.
